4.1 Animation and its Types

Animation and its Evolvment

Animation is basically putting together a series of images and creating a photo like someone walking, jumping, or doing any activty. Animation is now created in both 2D and 3D images using the help of technology and is much easier than it was before, but it is still considered time taking and needs lots of hard work.

Cel Animation

Animation started off from the classic and original version of its animation in which they created drawings for each step and move on paper, in 1915, invented by Earl Hurd. The first animation, complete film masterpiece was Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs by Disney in 1937. This inspired lots others and lots of Disney classics using the cel animation process. This still goes on for today but the truth is that instead of using a stash full of paper, we draw them digitally. People occasionally change this form of 2D to 3D, making most of the recent animation movies 3D.

Stop Motion

In 1898, Stop Motion was invented, being the first Stop Motion film called 'The Humpty Dumpty Circus'. Stop motion is the use of moving objects and taking pictures of every small step and combining the pictures together to make it seem like its moving on its own and making a film out of it. One of the most popular shows using this type of animation is Chicken Run.

My Experience -

Producing an animation film only occured for me once which was a group project during class. It was meant to be about a fish finding its way home. It brought some great challenges for me and it was time taking especially since it 's only meant to be 3 minutes.

I hope you learned a little about the Types of Animation. Stay updated for more posts.
